The East Nashville Micro Hit List 🎯
Intro & Backstory
When my wife and I moved to Nashville five years ago I started doing something a little nerdy and a lot of joyful: keeping a tailored list of locally owned spots we love. I do this everywhere I live or visit — Germany, Mexico City, New York — but East Nashville earned its own micro hit list fast. These are the tiny, wonderful places that make neighborhood life feel lived-in: the tuck‑away café where the barista remembers your order, the maker’s studio with a story behind every stitch, the quiet park bench that becomes the best seat for people‑watching. This list is about the IRL moments you can’t quite get from a guidebook.
Why a “micro” list?
This isn’t a comprehensive directory. It’s a curated, personal collection — the shops, studios, and spots I’d happily recommend to a friend who only has an afternoon. Think of it as selective local intel: high‑signal, low‑noise. Each entry is vetted by time, repeat visits, and that simple test of whether it made me want to come back.
About the map (interactive + how to use it)
I built a custom Google Map that pins every spot on the list so you can explore them at your own pace. Click any marker to jump to the business’s website, hours, and directions — perfect for planning a walking route, a coffee crawl, or a quick shopping detour between shows. If you’re on mobile, open the map and tap the marker for call/directions; on desktop you can open the full map in a new tab and build a route from your starting point.
IRL Etiquette
These are neighborhood businesses — many are small teams doing creative, hands‑on work. If you can, buy something small, say hello, and ask for a rec. Hours change, pop‑ups happen, and the best discoveries are often unplanned, so consider the map a living document (I update it as places open, close, or deserve a re‑visit).
